This week, we arranged for our student, AJ, go on a nature walk and notice the changes as the seasons move from Autumn into Winter, as told by Lindsay…
“We decided to meet at AJ‘s local park; Cuerden Valley Park, a place that AJ knows like the back of his hand and where I have never been. AJ was waiting for me at the place I had arranged to meet him with his Mum.
Despite the cold and rain, AJ enthusiastically showed me all the main areas of Cuerden Valley Park. As we walked, we did the 12 days of Christmas Festive Wildlife Detective Trail.
Later that week, back at The Hub, we read and listened to a variety of poems and looked at artwork around the theme of winter and the Winter Solstice. We investigated when the Winter Solstice occurs.
AJ sketched some of our finds from Tuesday. He watched a tutorial on YouTube to help him to draw a log and he spent time honing this shape before adding it to his big picture. He did a similar process when drawing a small bird.”
